Leopoldo obtained his master degree in Biomedical Engineering from Polytechnic of Milan in 2009. His thesis work was mainly focused on the synthesis of poly(alkyl cyanoacrylate) nanoparticles (NPs) to be used for drug delivery. After his master thesis, Leopoldo joined the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research in Milan, first under the post graduate course of Pharmacological Research Specialist and then as a PhD student. During this period, Leopoldo was involved in the preclinical evaluation of polymeric NPs for drug delivery in tumours. His main focus of research was the exploitation of innovative standardized methods for the analysis of NP interactions in biological fluids, cells and animal models of disease. Leopoldo successfully defended his PhD in January 2015 and in February 2015 he joined Procarta Biosystems as a post-doc researcher, where he will be involved in the DNA-TRAP project.
