Teresa Diaz holds a Master of Science in Veterinary Medicine from Universidad Complutense, Madrid, since 2011. The same year she was awarded a highly competitive fellowship (Argo Global) funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education and joined the Division of Gut Health and Food Safety at the Institute of Food Research for a period of six months. Since then, her focus has increasingly been on microbiology and how it affects health. In 2012 she joined Procarta Biosystems Ltd as a Research Scientist, where she works towards the development of novel oligonucleotide-based nanoparticulate antibacterial drugs against resistant bacteria. Her research interest is mainly but not only focussed in tuberculosis and the application of lipid-based nanocarriers to enhance delivery of novel and commonly used antimycobacterials to their bacterial target.
